Student Ministries Coordinator
Immanuel Anglican Church is a growing and vibrant church plant that is centered in South Austin, dependent on God’s grace, formed through Word and Sacrament, nurtured by God’s beauty, goodness, and truth, and is committed to joining Jesus in his restoration of all things. We desire to see our children and teenagers encounter Jesus, learn to pray, grow in the knowledge and the love of God, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit in life, relationships, and service to others. The Student Ministries Coordinator will come alongside parents and families to encourage the whole-life discipleship of their students.
Job Role
The Student Ministries Coordinator oversees both children and youth ministries, including curriculum selection; teaching; vision casting; volunteer recruitment, training, and pastoral care; and event planning. The ministry presently consists of 26 children and 6 youth group age teenagers. The Coordinator is an advocate for student ministries and will serve as a liaison between these ministries, the staff team, and the Vestry. The Student Ministries Coordinator reports to and is overseen by the Rector.
This role is part time and estimated at 25 hours/week.
Core Job Responsibilities
Supervision of Volunteer Leaders
Recruiting and developing volunteer leaders for children’s ministry and youth ministry
Ensuring (in collaboration with Immanuel’s Administrative Assistant) that all volunteers are in compliance with Safe Church policies
Communication
Communicates in a clear and engaging manner with children, youth, parents, and leaders
Children’s Ministry Curriculum and Teaching
In conversation with the Rector and children’s ministry task force, select and implement children’s ministry curriculum
Recruit and train volunteers for children’s ministry programing on Sunday
Create opportunities for family discipleship that extend children’s ministry programming into the home
Youth Group
Recruit and train volunteers for youth group
Plan and execute regular gatherings for middle and high school students
Create avenues for bonding and authentic sharing between students and leaders through fun and engaging activities, small groups, etc.
Oversee the teaching of God’s word in developmentally appropriate ways
In conversation with the Rector, create and implement Confirmation program for youth
Collaboration with Austin-area C4SO parishes
Assist in planning and execution of annual Austin area C4SO youth retreat
Collaborate on other opportunities for collaboration with other Austin area C4SO parishes

Biblically and theologically formed
While formal theological education is not a requirement, the candidate should have a robust understanding of scripture and theology and a willingness to continue learning

Has the ability to pastorally diagnose the needs of children, teens, and their families
Has the ability to create structures, recruit leaders, and delegate responsibility with others
